Summer's Holes
Screenwriter

S

ummer’s Holes at its core is about the growing pains you experience as a teenager trying to figure out what your parents can’t teach you. I was (and still kind of am) that awkward teenager that desperately wanted to fit in, but could never do it seamlessly. There was always a wrench thrown in my plans when talking to a boy or answering a simple question from my boss.

Throughout high school, I worked at a sports complex that brought in every age of athletes and their families to my small Florida town.

I witnessed many bizarre happenings varying from young kids running wild to roid-raging adults throwing full trashcans across an active playing field. And I absolutely loved it there.

I also wanted to landlock my characters into working all summer, so I set it in BFE Indiana. Originally from South Bend, I pulled a lot of inspiration from my own family’s summer activities, as well as the putt-putt place that I grew up going to. Through these memories combined with my own work experiences, I decided this was the perfect breeding grounds for Summer’s story.
