The Houston Comedy Film Festival is a unique forum for comedy filmmakers from around the world to showcase their creative works in Houston, Texas. The Houston Comedy Film Festival is searching for funny and engaging films to entertain a comedy loving audience. All films are compiled and screened on Blu-Ray DVD 1080p.

Our panel of 12 judges will give out 17 different awards:

Micro Comedy Short Film
The HCFF is looking for funny and engaging Comedy Micro Short Films that are a maximum of 5 minutes in length including all credits. All varieties of Comedy are accepted in this category including Romantic Comedy, Dark Comedy, Animated Films, Mockumentary Films, Comedy Web Series, International Comedy and anything else that will bring laughter to our audience. We screen short comedy films in a back-to-back format that is fast paced, fun and a unique experience for our audience. All languages are accepted, but the subtitles must be in English.



Comedy Short Film

The HCFF Fall 2017 is looking for funny and
engaging Comedy Short Films that are a minimum of 6 minutes, but are
no longer than 30 minutes including all credits. All varieties of
Comedy are accepted in this category including Romantic Comedy, Dark
Comedy, Animated Films, Mockumentary Films, Comedy Web Series,
International Comedy and anything else that will bring laughter to
our audience. We screen short comedy films in a back-to-back format
that is fast paced, fun and a unique experience for our audience. All
languages are accepted, but the subtitles must be in English.
Funny Music Video
The HCFF Fall 2017 is looking for funny and
engaging music videos that are thought provoking and make people
laugh. Funny Music Videos must be 5 minutes or less in length
including credits. Public music videos that are currently on youtube,
Vimeo, or Vevo are eligible.

Animated Comedy Short Film
The HCFF Fall 2017 has a specific category for Animated Comedy Short Films. We are looking for computer animation,  stop-motion, cartoons, and anything that is not “live action”for this category. From family films to “adult swim” styled animations, our judges are looking for something different, new and fresh. Animated films can range from 1-30 minutes in length including credits.

Comedy Feature Film Screenplay
The HCFF Fall 2017 is looking for funny and
engaging writing that is thought provoking and makes people laugh. A
Comedy Feature Film Screenplay must be a minimum length of 31 pages
and a maximum length of 100 pages. All screenplays must be written in
English. 12 different judges will read every word of every screenplay
submitted.
Comedy Short Film Screenplay

The HCFF 2017 is looking for funny and
engaging writing that is thought provoking and makes people laugh. A
Comedy Short Film Screenplay must be a maximum length of 30 pages.
All screenplays must be written in English. 12 different judges will
read every word of every screenplay submitted.
