irectors Statement: In 2023, I finished writing a Seattle based sapphic rom-com feature following Mare and Jules who were never able to fully realize their true love for each other in high school but were thankfully able to find it again 10 years later. This short came to be from a desire to get to know a Mare and Jules in high school before that feature length love affair, and to act as a proof of concept for the feature film.
This film will always be special to me because it was my first rom-com, and it’s a prequel story to two of my favorite characters I’ve written. It’s my comfort story, and I felt empowered by my cast and crew to really lean into my biggest visual inspirations as a director being eastern media and K-pop with this film. There’s a sweetness and wholesome energy to this story that I wanted to embrace, and I truly hope all who watch it feel the heart that went into creating this world.
