Biography
Jai Joseph is an Emmy-nominated writer based in Los Angeles, CA. Currently staffed on Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Jai's previous staffing credits include Disney Channel's Raven's Home and Act Your Age starring Kym Whitley, Tisha Campbell, and Yvette Nicole Brown.
Prior to being selected as the Eunetta T. Boone Comedy Scholar in the 2021 Disney Writing Program, Jai served as Showrunner’s Assistant on the CBS sitcom, MOM, where she worked for six seasons.
Growing up a curious kid in the suburbs of New Orleans in the 1990s, Jai learned that every building, every person, and every home tells a story. While studying film at the University of New Orleans, Jai seized opportunities in the burgeoning production hub landing herself on-set and in offices for productions such as Spike Lee’s Oldboy and HBO’s Treme. After graduation, Jai moved to Los Angeles with a suitcase and Creole seasoning planning to parlay an internship with Disney into a career in television - eventually working on over 300 episodes of TV for CBS, Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Sony, and others. Jai has also contributed sketch comedy to iO West, Funny or Die, and the Upright Citizens' Brigade, receiving a coveted scholarship.
While life in LA has led her to appreciate boba and food truck tacos, Jai still remains true to her Southern roots refusing to give up gluten.
