Biography
My name is John Charles McDonough II. I was born and raised in Salinas, California. I've had an immense passion for filmmaking ever since I was a kid. When I was 6-years-old, I was diagnosed with autism, and although I struggled a little bit in my early years, my neurodivergence made me see the world much differently. As such was the case in viewing motion pictures. My main goal as a filmmaker is to write and direct my own movies, specifically genre films, and invoke elements of social commentary into them. The way I see filmmaking is that everything on set, from camera equipment to wardrobe costs millions of dollars, so you might as well take advantage of your resources. Furthermore, I want to combine genres, such as comedy, into my work. The filmmakers who've inspired me are Edgar Wright, John Landis, the Coen brothers, Wes Anderson, John Carpenter, Guillermo del Toro, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Joe Dante, Sam Rami, Brian de Palma, Robert Rodriguez, John Sayles, Wes Craven, and Rian Johnson.
