A bizarre premise combined with original characters can offer audiences an unforgettable and entertaining experience — one that feels especially valuable in somber times. These are the kinds of short films that truly stay in people’s minds. It’s not unusual to hear someone call a comedy short the best film of a festival — and they always associate it with a positive feeling.
Unfortunately, comedy often doesn’t receive the recognition it deserves. Some claim it’s not sophisticated or important enough. But I see it differently: Anyone who can give an audience a moment of lightness and escape — a moment where they forget their worries — has achieved something extraordinary.
So, dear reader: Will you join the comedy revolution?
Biography
Johannes Küchler was raised in North Hessen, near Kassel. During his Film Directing studies at the private university Ruhrakademie Schwerte, he completed his first short film “Celluloin” (2023), which was screened at several festivals. The experimental film reflects Johannes’s passion for playing with diverse cinematic techniques to evoke emotion in the audience.
After this experimental exploration, he developed a stronger focus on storytelling and character-driven narratives. He now channels his creative playfulness into the comedy genre, beginning with his graduation film “FULL METAL PIZZA” (2025).
