Finesse delves into the obsessive, expectation-filled minds of young adults as they navigate the gap between fantasy and reality. Inspired by a personal encounter, Abdul wanted to reimagine an experience not as it happened, but as he wished it had. It is a proof of concept for a bigger story already written.
This film is a love letter to character-driven stories, where we journey alongside someone and allow their choices, rather than the plot devices, to shape the narrative. In Finesse, we capture that sense of intrigue and possibility, using humor and introspection to reveal both the beauty and absurdity of expectations.
Biography
“As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a Writer.” I was the kid with the video camera, the half-baked script zombie script, and a group of unwilling friends who I swore were perfect for the roles I’d written. That obsession with storytelling followed me into adulthood, leading me to the Queensland College of Art, where I specialized in Video Editing and Screenwriting. I live for stories that are sharp, character-driven, and packed with tension, but also heart. I’ve always believed that the best stories aren’t just told, they’re felt. Currently, I am developing new projects, finishing two books, and looking to collaborate with like-minded creatives interested in creating stories that not only entertain, but also leave a mark.
